ABS Hovercraft for Sri-Lanka Navy

In June 1998 the ABS M10 LSC (Logistic Supply Craft) successfully passed UK acceptance by its customer, the Sri-Lanka Navy with 50+ knots fully laden showing a performance significantly above target. Production was subcontracted to Vosper Thornycroft Ltd.

The Hovercraft is used for Logistic Supply purposes. Whereas with conventional vessels, the Navy had to circumnavigate the entire Island of Sri-Lanka to travel to its north, the ABS M10 can shortcut the route over Adam's Bridge (a human built access to the Indian subcontinent) which means a significant time-saving.
