New generation Hovercraft have considerable advantages over conventional displacement vessels when it comes to environmental aspects.
- Hovercraft are very fuel efficient (COČ friendly) as Hovercraft do not have to plough through the water but "fly" above the surface. At maximum speed fuel consumption of a Hovercraft is approx. 70% less than of a fast patrol boat with similar payload capacity.
- Hovercraft do not generate wakes even at 50+ knots so no erosion of river benches and beaches
- landings on solid ground avoids anchoring so corals remain untouched in tropics
- no turbulence or impact in water as no propeller churns up the water so sealife remains untouched
- no exhaust gases in water
- no discharge of oil or gasoline into the water
- no noise transferrance of propellers into the water
