It is imperative that a fast patrol or search and rescue vessel has the ability to operate in difficult sea conditions. The ABS M10 hovercraft can successfully operate in sea conditions 4 to 5 and has the added ability to continue with limited operational capability in conditions more severe than this.

In addition the fully amphibious ABS M10 allows to find shelter at the closest beach whereas a conventional patrol boat is forced to ride out any storm.
